The one called Problem Solving Network was based on an online survey that I did (in response to question 'who do you go to for help in solving work-related problems?'), and the generic organisational network is from an article (I can't remember which one - so that's a very bad thing to use in a talk - sorry!). My memory is that it is showing informal relationships based on survey data - I'm pretty sure that it's from one of the Rob Cross articles...

Nice presentation!
Quick question: the picture with internal connections within the organization was it formal connections and hierarchy or informal relationships, who knows who? In that case is it based on interviews or data such as emails and phone calls?

Finally it works. The lesson I learned:

If Tim sounds like Jabba the Hutt when you press play then you need to update your flashplayer.

Good talk Tim!

BTW Your point about not 'networking' reminded me a bit of this quote* by Ron Burt (1992) "Judging friends on the basis of efficiency is an interpersonal flatulence from which friends will flee" (pp. 24-25).

*I happened upon this while reading Podolny and Baron (1997)
